Tim Kröger

Tim Kröger was born August 25, 1964 in Bremen and started to go. Today the 1.87 meters tall athlete looks back to almost 30 years of successful international inshore and offshore sailing. In 1983, "OT" (Offshore Timmy) won the Admiral's Cup with the German team as crew member on Sabina. The President of Germany, Mr. Carstens, honored with the highest German sports award, the Silver Laurel.

Between 1986 and 1988 Timmy has been a member of the German Olympic Sailing Team and is a member of Soling helmsman Thomas Jungblut. He sailed almost a decade on Willi Illbruck's successful yachts named Pinta before he took the chance of his life and sailed his first Whitbread Round the World Race on the European entry Intrum Justitia in 1993/94. The crew of the skipper Lawrie Smith finished second after eight spectacular legs.

1994 Tim Kröger finally decided to become Germany's first full-time yachting professional. His passion became his profession. He has been one of the best teams in the world, and he has a lot of fun with his team Watch captain aboard Swedish Match. His memories can be read in the book " One of Timmy's challenges then the race onboard Steve Fossett's PlayStation.

From 2001 to 2003 he was working for the French America's Cup Challenge Le Défi Areva as a member of the sailing team, boat captain and coordinator of the rig program. The team reached the Quarterfinals of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the Challenger Series for the 31st America's Cup. After Tim raced as Maxi Yacht UCA. They are doing this in the fastest sailing time across the Atlantic. So in 2003 Timmy raced his 10th Fastnet Race on the Open60 Skandia Set Sail, better known as Kingfisher, the Yacht of Lady Ellen MacArthur.

In the 32nd America's Cup Kröger participated with the South African Team Shosholoza. They finished with a highly respected 7th place in the Challenger Series.

In November 2007 he joined the newly structured German medalist Jochen Schümann. Alinghi and the American team BMW Oracle Racing.

In 2009 Kröger went back to the Olympic Games in the Starboat-a 10th place at the Worlds in this competitive class.

In the Summer of 2010 Tim Kröger organized and orchestrated a project for the Audi AG. A Team of 6 Pro Sailors got a pair of amateur sailors and a very short period of time. Onboard a TP52, a thoroughbred racing machine, the Audi A1 Team under the guidance of skipper Tim Kröger performed so well that they won the German Championship in their class within the Kiel Week regattas.

Whether as a crewmember in international race teams, as a skipper of high profile incentive-race-programs like the Audi is a dream come true, as coach for race training One of the most experienced yachtsmen in his home country.

In 2011 he won the long-distance classic Gotland Runt / AF offshore race and he came second scipping the Swan 60 Spirit of Europe in the inaugural Nord Stream Race from St. Petersburg in 2012. After his second Nord Stream Race in 2013 he did The Spirit of Europe is the first of its kind in the world.

During the 2014 Kiel Week Tim was on a special mission. He joined the MOD 70 Musandam OmanSail for the opening races of the Kieler Woche as navigator. The team broke the old record of the classic Kielweek opener, a 27 nautical mile course which they have mastered in a stunning time 1 hour and 47 minutes. For the raceback they only needed 52 minutes to cover 20 nautical miles!

Later in August the well - kept. 60 World Championship during the famous Copa del Rey. Kröger joined the team of Russian charterers and the team won silver.
